The European Research Council (ERC), together with the Association of ERC Grantees (AERG), has launched a new joint initiative – the “Ambassadors for the ERC” network. This initiative brings together ERC grantees from across EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries to advocate for fundamental, frontier research and to reinforce the ERC’s vision, particularly in the context of the upcoming Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP10).
As an ERC Ambassador, Professor Mieriņa will help promote the importance of frontier research funding to policymakers, media representatives, and wider society. The Ambassadors highlight the value of fundamental research, share insights into ERC funding opportunities, and champion the ERC's mission at national and international levels.
The network also supports the work of ERC National Contact Points (NCPs) and the Association of ERC Grantees through events, workshops, and outreach activities. By adding a strong voice at the national level, the Ambassadors complement existing efforts to strengthen excellence-driven research across Europe.
Professor Mieriņa’s appointment as an ERC Ambassador is an important recognition of her scientific excellence and leadership, as well as of the WICE project’s contribution to advancing high-quality research.
