At the Cabinet’s meeting on October 28, the government decided to honor Professor Mieriņa among this year’s laureates. As emphasized by Minister of Education and Science Dace Melbārde, “The Cabinet of Ministers Award highlights the excellence of Latvian science and its significant contribution across both the exact and the humanities fields. Our researchers, through their curiosity, perseverance, and values-based approach, enrich the research space not only in Latvia but also across Europe and the world. These awards are a testament to the fact that science is one of the foundations of Latvia’s statehood.”
In total, 29 outstanding professionals in the fields of research and education will receive government awards — including two recipients of the Cabinet of Ministers Award and 27 recipients of the Cabinet of Ministers Certificate of Recognition.
The Cabinet of Ministers Certificate of Recognition is conferred to express the government’s appreciation for exceptional accomplishments in areas such as the economy, science, education, health, environmental protection, public administration, culture, sports, and national defense. More information about the Cabinet’s decisions of October 28, 2025, regarding the award recipients is available on the Cabinet of Ministers’ official website.
Congratulations to Professor Inta Mieriņa on this high national recognition of her scientific achievements!
